Organized by our Healing & Spirituality Action Group, the Brown Hope Monthly Book Club creates a supportive space to learn, process, connect, and grow in community.
The Book Club happens every first Thursday of the month from 7–8:30pm on Zoom. This offering is free and open to the public— all races, backgrounds, and identities are welcome to participate.
We are now accepting new members for the next cycle of the book club, which begins Thursday, January 7th, 2027.
Our 2027 selection for the Brown Hope Monthly Book Club is Deep Diversity: A Compassionate, Scientific Approach to Achieving Racial Justice by Shakil Choudhury. Choudhury's groundbreaking book provides a framework for understanding and dismantling racism by examining how our brains are wired.
We chose this book because it combines neuroscience, psychology, and mindfulness to help people uncover unconscious biases without triggering defensiveness. It also features an Inner Skills Toolkit which provides actionable steps woven throughout the chapters.
The first meeting for the book club is Thursday, January 7, 2027 at 7pm. **Please register by January 2nd to confirm your participation.
