Cat Jesse

Board Treasurer

Cat Jessee is someone who practices humility, discernment, and discipline. She is not interested in exaggerating the struggles she occasionally experiences to skirt responsibility for her own role in things or to derail the liberation efforts of Black, Brown & Indigenous people. She can engage in conflict in a way that welcomes heatedness. Cat's understanding of white supremacist thinking, whiteness and colonialism generally enables her to notice it in herself & others, and to address it. Ideologically, Cat believes in the necessity of both dismantling cruel systems and building nourishing ones. Cat got her Bachelor's in Black Studies from PSU, contributed consistently to the growth of NSLU, held various other activist roles, and supports her neighbors directly. She currently works full time as a Peer & Resource Specialist. She loves dance, laughter, writing, study, her dogs, her loved ones, music, get-togethers, savory snacks, sweet treats, nature, and her cozy apartment home. As Brown Hope's Board Treasurer, Cat is honored to step in where there is an ask. She aims to strengthen this organization tangibly, contributing in good faith to the longevity of Brown Hope, for the sake of those it serves directly and for the sake of all of our healing, connection and joy.
