Help Launch the Brown Hope People’s Assembly with a Contribution of $500!
The mission of Brown Hope is to lead community-grounded initiatives to make justice a lived experience for black, brown, and indigenous people in Portland. Through leveraging education, culture, and community engagement activities, our programs aim to create sustainable opportunities for inclusive and transformative leadership. Our community programs include:
Monthly Reparations Power Hour Events.
The Annual Brown Hope Prize.
The Brown Hope People’s Assembly.
There are extreme inequities with political and civic representation in Portland. We are building a platform that fosters deep civic engagement, by addressing many of the barriers to equitable access, including racism, sexism, and poverty.
Our solution is to build a deliberative leadership model that operates on 100% consensus and provides cash support for deep community involvement. The People’s Assembly of Brown Hope will be an education and empowerment tool to invest in the leadership of Black, Brown, and Indigenous people in our Portland community. People’s Assembly members will be paid a $300 stipend each, and will meet monthly to lead the vision and policymaking of Brown Hope.
We are seeking 20 contributors who will give at the $500 Hope Giver level, which will empower us with the resources to work with 18 People’s Assembly members, representing the beautiful diversity of Portland, for one year. Hope Givers will be recognized on a special page featured on the Brown Hope website.
